I was just wondering what people do if they are travelling with their dogs when they need grooming? Do you go into towns? Reason for asking is that I have been working as a full time dog groomer for years and am thinking one day of taking off around Aus in a caravan or camper and offering a dog grooming service on the road to fund my travels. Would you as dog owners be interested in this? Any advice welcomed :) thanks
That would be a great idea. As the mummy of a very spoilt C o c k e r Spaniel.
It would be great to have him clipped when we are away.
We get him all clipped off when travelling as it makes it easier to look for ticks.
I am sur e you would have a ready market for your seveices
Hi, when I was at Gympie free camp ground QLD, there was a lady there grooming dogs in her annex. She was very busy. She had a generator for power and a portable gas hot water system to heat the water to bath the dogs. I reckon that you should go for it. The lady I saw just had a sandwich board advertising that she groomed dogs which she put outside her annex. Good luck. Lynne
I keep my two dogs clipped due to tick and burr problems, first by having a groomer do it, but after paying anywhere from $50 to $80 each dog I bought my own quality clippers (Anders) and do it myself now, not a pleasant job but I remind myself how much I'm saving every time I do it.
I also know my dogs are not being mistreated, yes I know this does happen !
But to answer your question I'm sure there would be many take up the service if the price was good, gosh even I might be tempted for the right fee, especially when my back is playing up.
G'day we travel with 2 dogs and would love to come across a dog groomer on the road (depending on price). we normally have to get our dogs done twice when away and some groomers seem to think they can charge the world, but I suppose it is a case of supply and demand.
Cheers

Hi there, my husband and I travelled Oz last year and as I was a dog groomer, I often clipped off other people's kiddies along the way. I did not bath them, but that was no problems, it was the coat they needed to shed. I also used to charge a minimal fee of $25/35. Keep a lookout for expertly groomed dogs, that is where you will find someone who can clip your companion.
