we're relative newcomers to full time. Started last August and did part of WA (our home State). We sold our house as we'd had all the dramas having tenants previously. Don't miss the up-keep, lawn mowing, pool cleaning, constant maintenance....blahh, blah.
Gave our kids some money on the deal we could stay with our van at their place (play them "rent" - feel screwed over some times lol). Spemt 3 months over last Xmas and couldn't wait to be back on the road again. Currently at rainy Broken Hill and soon to head towards Melbourne for 3 weeks or so (at good racecourse CP for $126 a week and 30 mins south of CBD). The either fight our way north up the coast through the snow to have a BBQ with Tony at Canberra (standing invitation for all nomads) and end up at QLD. The slowly south inland to SA (and its terrible roads) and home to Perth at Xmas 2016

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
We have just completed our first 12 months on the road as to say. We look at what part of this great island we need to see and then arrange house sits in the chosen area. Last 12 months we spent 61% of our time working our way to Perth and back followed by Xmas in Canberra and have just finished 3 months in Northern Rivers/ Sth East Qld. 30% of our time is in the van and 9% with family. We are booked to the end of the year and will do Northern Vic/Gippsland early 2016 before heading to North Qld.
The way to go meeting beautiful people and amazing places.
We started in August last year, haven't been to far away as health issues have kept us close to where we started. We have put over 20,000 klms on the clock though so we have explored a lot of Victoria and NSW. Looks like we may get out into SA for awhile soon as our last medical operation was back in March and recovery is nearly finished. Have to be back in NSW in September for some paid work BUGGA for 3 months on a Horse Stud helping out then we are headed to Greens for Xmas we hope.
Love the lifestyle and meeting lots of nice people and a few not so nice and a couple of mongrels, but it does take all kinds to make this great place.
Over 21 years for us. We do a house sit from time to time. Couldn't get my chauffeur back into a house. He says they are just places to store all the things you don't need. Just for a change we go off on a cruise every so often. Cheers Alice
Wow. That is a bigger response than I expected. Hello everyone. I have a grey nomads sticker on the front of the van. So far, no one has recognised it.

Gday...
As I indicated above - I have been travelling full-time for six years ... and I have a sticker.
In all that time, no-one has ever spoken to me as a result of seeing it .. and I have not found another traveller with 'our' sticker - except those I have met at organised get togethers.
cheers - John

18 months and have no intention of giving up this wonderful lifestyle any time soon. Done a couple of house sits and will do more. Love it. Best decision I have made.

12 months full time and loving it, best decision I have ever made. Currently back where I started from just to visit friends before choosing my next destination.
