OFF TO CAPE YORK FOR FIRST TIME

When the roads are open we are heading to Cape York. We will leave our on road Sterling at Mt Carbine and continue on with our dual cab ute and do the camping thing ( being a "princess" I am not really looking forward to it). Wanted to know will we have toilets and showers available most times or do I need to take a shovel. I do have a 12v bucket shower.

Kim

Depends whether you bush camp or stay at stations on the way. most of the nat parks have toilets, and the camp grounds and cvan parks have showers and toilets. You can get most things on thepenninsula dev road, just be prepared to pay thru the nose for it. I hope they have graded the track. Bill

Hi Kim,
28th May will see us heading up that way, but we are leaving our van in Cairns and doing an 8 day tour, flying to Horn Is. Thursday Is. then back to Seisa before heading south by a 4WD bus fully accommodated and meals included. Looking forward to it, as I'm sure you are too. Will look for your news bits here on the forum in time. Have a safe trip.

Edit: Pete just reminded me why we weren't taking our own vehicle - it's not even 4 months old!! If we still had the Patrol - maybe, but not at the moment.

A slide show (100+ pics).
Make it run slow and get rid of the film strip at the bottom, if you can, so the captions can be read.

Hi Pejay. Sounds like a great trip. Yes keep your new vehicle looking good. After only owning our new BT50 Dual cab ute we drove along Cape Palmerston NP beach and headed up a track that petered out without any turning options so had to continue to the end to u turn. Scratches everywhere!!! I wasn't popular. I was hoping to have an off road van by the time we did the cape but hubby is in a hurry, so camping. Oh well we will enjoy it. How can we not.

Thanks Bill That's the info I wanted to know. I will miss my van so stations, or c/van parks will do nicely. Shall leave the bush camping until we have our off roader or semi off roader with combo.
