what's the best way to clean the canvas without taking the protective coating of it, hubby wants to scrub it to death, then will complain when it leaks.
Generally if you touch canvas when it is wet, it will leak While wet! When we had a camper we cleaned and then re waterproofed all canvas at least every 2 Years. You can buy the preparation from camping stores ... You should speak to an upholster or whoever you bought the annex from as it should have come with care instructions. Google how to clean canvas Annex.

when we had the old van with a slide on canvas annex when it was time to wash it I laid it on the ground and washed with warm soapy water and a semi soft broom then hung it over the fence to dry. When dry I re-waterproofed it with stuff I got from TENTWORLD
