Just recently camped at a spot and set my auto Sat up , Vast receiver wouldn't work , so I plugged my Foxtel in , worked perfectly. Walked over to another camper and asked was his Vast working , it was. Foxtel and Vast both come off the same Satellite , have now moved on and Vast and Foxtel working . I did ring Vast who told me it was the receiver , so I rang the makers and they passed the buck , so I'm wondering if this has happened to you.
ps Vast was working the previous day at another site so its encryption was up to date.

Make sure your registration for your Vast system it up to date
Also when Vast sends an activation your system must be turned on and tuned in
I phoned Vast and they told me to ring Altech the makers of the vast receiver , then they told me it was a problem with my Sphere Sat box , which tunes the Sat in . I explained that Foxtel was working , they told me to go through all the set up again which I had done 10 times over , in the end just gave up. Soon as we reached the new destination it worked . The screen on the Altech where the channels come up had ---- 4 dashes in green. On the TV screen it said searching for Signal.
Vast recommends that you keep your box on standby mode to pick up software changes but I have found that it has to be on and not in stand by mode . If I leave it in standby mode it takes up to 15mins to get a channel if I don't have it on for a week or more, however when I leave it on , channels come up straight away , so when I am at home I hook it up to the home Sat.
Thanks Frank , I will keep an eye on that next time .
One other thing that I do with my Altech Box , at the back of the box spare LNB out , I hook a cable from this direct to LNB in on Foxtel Box saves swapping Sat cable between boxes , works great but the Altech Box has to be on or in stand by mode .
Thanks again.
Mick
When you say the VAST receiver wouldn't work can you please give some more details
Michael, the details we were expecting were things like you location when the reception failed and also the location of the next attempt that was successful. Also what exactlu od the auto dish and its size. Not all places in Oz are equal when it comes to satellite reception.

Peter,
The dish size approx.850mm not that I've measured it but it is bigger than my portable one I used to have . We were at Rathdowney near Qld/NSW Border. It was funny even though we were still in Qld our phones and Ipad were giving us NSW time , must have been a NSW Telstra tower up on the McPherson Ranges . I thought that could've been the problem but when I rang Vast they told it wouldn't make any difference . We then moved onto Kyogle NSW all worked. What I don't understand and was my original query was Foxtel worked , Vast wouldn't ,but they are on the same Satellite. The other camper I went over to talk to about his Vast was some 500mtrs away from me. Their was no trees or obstructions in my way .
And that my friends is all I can tell you.
