Fridgemate olod model not working on 12v fine with 240v plugin

Can anyone help with this.  I have an old fridgemate 12v fridge freezer .  It has the compressor in the lid  (Esky like)

The beast works really well when the 240 v adapter  (transformer or whatever the term is) is plugged in.

The 12 Volt lead shows power is at the lead but it will not run when plugged in to 12v power  either cigarette lighter or thumper  fitted in car.

I have changed the 5 amp fuse . no diff.

I am an old girl and not really savvy but understand reasonably well.  Have been fobbed off by 12v businesses who just say is old get a new one.

No-one has looked at it though.

I do not understand what the difference is .  If the cable is ok why will it run well when plugged into 240V  but not power up  when direct 12V connected.

I have checked my power outputs. They run the Engel  well ?  I have also tried with the car running putting extra into thumper !!  ??  no diff.fridgemate - Copy.JPG

Any ideas please .  I eventually manages to insert photo sorry it is bigger than I would have liked.

Many thanks to you fellows who have previously helped with ideas.  I have now set up my fairlane AU 2  as a tow vehicle with all the suggestions and it works very well.

Thank you for your response. No the plug in point is the same . Just swap over the leads . Not like Engel etc.

Wow the photos are interesting.  Will need some help to understand them.  Had a try of the frig this am  it worked on 12 V .

After much mucking about we think that the problem is in or around the fuse.

Tomorrow I will try to hunt down a small but fat fuse.  It appears that the fuse is not allowing a circuit ON OCCASION  !!!

We are most bewildered.

Thanks for your help and interest
