RWC's

Can someone tell me why you can buy a vehicle in one state but can't get a road worthy certificate for it in another.  Surely the safety check list, when it is done is applicable nationwideno

My car and van are registered in NSW. so far I have had RWC in Qld and the NT with no problems. Not sure where you are but check with your dept of roads or whatever they call it in your state

Each state has it's own criterea for what is included in a RWC/Safety Certificate - this is why the NSW one costs less than the Qld one. Qld are stricter than NSW and the test covers more.

Yes all you have to do is send it to RTA or get someone to take it in.  You might have to explain to the issuer that it is a safety inspection . Had one done in Innisfail and the bloke was more concerned with my gas certificate and in the NT bloke went mad measuring the van. So long as you have a piece of paper with road worthy on it. as Hak said each state has dif criteria and usually their RWC is a once only thing not like NSW
