Hi Renrut,

There are lots of vehicles that are capable of towing your van, the best may be a 2015 Rolls Royce Phantom with its V12 turbo motor. The problem with asking which is best, the owners of Land Rovers say theirs are best, the owners of Toyotas say theirs are best and the owners of all the twin cabs say theirs are the best. It is up to you to find the car you like the best, one with a 3.5 ton towing, one that you like the look of and one that you feel comfortable driving. As I wrote there are many cars capable of towing your van and in this day and age there are very few duds on the market.

Good luck with your hunt,

snail

Isuzu DMax twin cab rated to tow 3.5T. Depending on model and any deals going at time, pay new between $32-40K. Can easily be serviced throughout Aust as uses an Isuzu light truck motor - 3 lt common rail.

We have one and tow a 24fter and every person we have met on the road with a 'van being towed by a DMax love them and will replace it eventually.

We previously had a 20ftr Jayco and towed it with a Patrol - wouldn't go back to Nissan - love the DMax too much

SAAB 9-3 Turbo....

Kidding. Seems the Mazda BT50 or the Ford equivalent is a popular choice.

Isuzu is another.

I love my 2012 Ford Ranger dual cab diesel, baby 4 cylinder 2.2L. Returns 13.9L per 100KMs towing a 2600KG caravan.

Its comfortable and easy to drive..

I have a new Dmax and tow a Tvan camper about 1200kg , there is no way I would tow 3T with it or any other Dual Cab Ute

The DMax is rated to tow 3.5tonne and does it easily, without risk to you or vehicle and without strain on the vehicle. I have spoken to many other traveler towing 'vans of this weight and they would not go back to other tugs they had in the past which were expensive to buy and heavy on fuel

Gday...

I reckon Snail summed it all up in his reply, first in the line.

Exactly the right answer. Despite how we all feel about our respective vehicles, they are all suitable.

It is ultimately an 'emotional' choice - does my bum fit, is my bum comfortable, can my bum afford to buy it, does my bum like the specifications and do they meet my requirements.

To quote Snail "there are many cars capable of towing your van and in this day and age there are very few duds on the market"

Cheers - and happy and safe motoring - John
