An acquaintance has just upgraded his car licence to a light truck LR so he can drive his newly acquired Winnebago Motorhome. He did it through a 'service provider' and found it was an easy process over half a day. Happy camper His wife is happy to do the same shortly.
However the instructor said to him that the process will be changed in a couple of months with a seperation of the instruction and the test/certification. This will probably mean extra cost at least and less convenience. So if you were thinking of doing it, now may be the time
He purchased a MH that was originally GVM 4500 Kg but has been upgraded to 6000 because it was impossible to get below the original weight limit even empty. Some cheating done at the factory for the original registration obviously Be warned.
I recently had my 7 mnths old van upgraded by another 300kg. Had to take it to a weigh bridge where the tare weight (the weight as it comes out of the factory) had in fact increased by 300kg - and I took the 2 9kg gas bottles off which came with the van (and of course totally emptied it)
