Just squeaked in with 4, guessed question 9 as it's a kiwi fruit. Knew 6, 7 & 10 even though 6 was a googly - the Canary Islands are in the Atlantic, not Pacific.

Cheers
Joe

Well done Joe, you are indeed correct the Canary Islands are in the Atlantic Ocean....I'll give you a bonus half point......=4 1/2. <because you used Mr. Google>...lol....

You can now join 'Yes What! under Dr Pym with your fellow students Bottomley, Greenbottle <although Greenbottle may invariably be late for school yet again!> and Stanforth.......<I imagine many do not know to which I refer!>..plus 10 bonus points if anyone can remember the name of Bottomleys' girlfriend whom he used to smuggle into the classroom, and even though she was hiding under the desk, Dr Pym NEVER seemed to see her..!.... ...

I guess we've all seen enough Aircraft Black Box's in recent times <tragically> to know they are Orange...wouldn't we all like them to find the MH370 'black/orange box'....Hoo Roo

Well done Peter...you cheated in the best traditions of the pupils in 'Yes What'.....lol..

You've all timed out on naming Bottomley's girlfriend he used to smuggle into the classroom...her name was DAPHNE......

Does anyone besides me remember this popular radio show from the 50's or am I just an older, old fart?...
Bottomleys' most famous poem on 'Yes What' is below......brought Australians to their knees laughing...they were simpler less complicated times....perhaps better times too, when we could leave our cars and houses unlocked...and sleep on the front lawn on hot nights in absolute security......and community cracker nights...and we had Sunday family meals together....and ate at the dining table....and communicated...and...and...

Bottomleys' Poem about fishing:

Be calm, o sea; don't be so boisterous,
Be kind to fishermen, and to us oysterers!

Well Larry , I guess you must be an older, old fart?.  I certainly  remember radio shows in the fifties but not that one, must have been tuned into something else(the goons)no. Like all the things you listed, the fifties was a good time to grow up,all the things that we did in those days that's illegal today, and we survivedsmilebiggrin......cheers Petersmilesmile

That quiz has been around for so long that I thought everyone would pass.

It's also about time that one of the questions was eliminated. Chinese gooseberries come from Asia.  The New Zealanders just popularised them. When they sent them to the USA the importer renamed them kiwifruit.

From Wikipedia - The fruit has a soft texture and a sweet but unique flavor, and today is a commercial crop in several countries, such as Italy, New Zealand, Chile, Greece, and France. - Kiwifruit is native to China. Other species of Actinidia are native to India, Japan, and southeastern Siberia. Cultivation of the fuzzy kiwifruit spread from China in the early 20th century to New Zealand, where the first commercial plantings occurred.

.......Point taken Peter D....I attempted to re-ignite a bit more interest in 'I Digress', as there had been discussion that it was not receiving much attention....
Why don't you post something interesting and completely original to entertain us all.......and I will use Google to check your posting.....

I guess discussion re an old popular Radio Program is just as boring.....I stand corrected....thanks.

Goldfinger,

Your old radio shows reminded me of some I used to listen too as well.

The Goons, The Air Adventures Of Biggles, Tarzan, Hop Harrigan,

The Bunkhouse Show.(promoted by " Y Cough take YCough".)

Dad & Dave. Inner Sanctum.

Mums ones were, When a Girl Marries, Blue Hills, also World Famous Tenors.

I can still pick the voices of Caruso, Lanza, & Schmidt

All great shows.

I was also in the Phantom Club, received my metal phantom ring with glow in the dark eyes.

Unfortunately it has been lost many years ago, along with the nose flute.

I am a really old coot.

Nose flute would have gone well with my Jews Harp.
