.....and you need to keep buying them to help the farmers out.  Same thing happened a few years back in Qld, but the price came down again eventually.

We intend to do better than that, we are heading North right now to Carnarvon, with the intention of giving the locals "hands on help"

ANY-ONE ELSE GOING TO HELP THEM OUT, ??????

That's a great sentiment but unfortunately it doesn't help the farmers that were affected, just the ones from 'away' who cash in on Carnarvons misfortune.  Next thing we'll see Coles/Woolies again try to change the import laws so they can import bananas from the American owned farms in the Philippines.   When it happened in Qld the growers from Coffs Harbour made a killing. Business is business.

Regards

We're heading that way in a few weeks time & would love to help out, but, not sure with my physical limitations if I'd just be in the way.  Have thought about offering my help doing Test & Tag of portable electrical tools/appliances which may help the tradies up there helping out keep a bit safe. But dunno if it that would be a help or hinderance.  I did work in Carnarvon over 30 years ago driving Taxi's for about 6 months, so will be interesting to see the place again. But given the situation I would think doing the tourist thing would be out for a while up that way.
