CYCLONE OLWYN UP-DATE = SAT 14/03 9.00 AM

We haven't seen much of the bad Weather forecast for Perth overnight, a few showers but nothing like they are predicting, maybe it's still to early in the day,  there are still plenty of warnings being issued though............

Take action with bad weather between Jurien Bay and Hopetoun
Saturday 14 March 2015 - 7:19 AM
If you live in an area bounded by Jurien Bay to Paynes Find to Southern Cross to Hopetoun including you should take action and stay safe with bad weather to come.

This includes people in, near and between Perth, Mandurah, Jurien Bay, Dalwallinu, York, Southern Cross, Narrogin, Katanning, Bridgetown, Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River and Albany and surrounding areas.

This is a rare weather event for people in the southwest of WA and could cause major damage to homes and make travel very dangerous.

 WEATHER DETAILS:
As at 6.03am on Saturday 14 March 2015 the Bureau of Meteorology advises Tropical Cyclone Olwyn is estimated to be 80 kilometres north northeast of Geraldton at 5am, and moving south southeast at 23 kilometres per hour.
TC Olwyn is expected to weaken over northern parts of the South West Land Division during Saturday morning, and the remnants of the system will move through central parts of the South West Land Division during the day.
The strongest winds are likely to be over central and eastern parts of the South West Land Division, with the heaviest rainfall most likely to be over central parts of the South West Land Division to the east of the Perth Metropolitan Area.
HEAVY RAINFALL and WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS in parts of the warning area north of Mandurah to Southern Cross during Saturday morning will extend into the remainder of the warning area west of Southern Cross to Hopetoun by early Saturday afternoon. Conditions should ease north of a line from Mandurah to Southern Cross by early Saturday evening. During Saturday HIGHER THAN NORMAL TIDES may cause FLOODING OF LOW-LYING COASTAL AREAS along the west coast south of Jurien Bay and the south coast west of Hopetoun.
On Saturday the remnants of Olwyn will produce HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING, WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WINDS to 100 kilometres per hour, HIGHER THAN NORMAL TIDES may cause FLOODING OF LOW-LYING COASTAL AREAS that could result in DAMAGE TO HOMES AND PROPERTY.

Cancellation of severe weather warning between Kalbarri and Hopetoun
Saturday 14 March 2015 - 3:26 PM
As at  3:16 pm on Saturday 14 March 2015, the Bureau of Meteorology advises the severe weather warning for heavy rainfall conducive to flash flooding, widespread damaging winds and abnormally high tides for people in parts of WA southwest of a line from Kalbarri, along the coast to Dongara, to Paynes Find to Southern Cross to Hopetoun has been CANCELLED.

The remnants of ex-Tropical Cyclone Olwyn continues to weaken as it moves through the South West Land Division. Winds through central and eastern parts of the warning area are no longer expected to produce damaging wind gusts, although winds will remain fresh and gusty into the evening as the system tracks towards the south coast.

Showers will continue but rainfall is no longer expected to be heavy. Morawa and Mullewa both recorded 93mm in the 24 hours to 9am this morning.

We're in York at the moment, only light rain and occasional moderate wind gusts with a little humidity. Moving towards Perth in the morning (Sunday).

No more rain up here either and judging by the amount of stars out the storm has all gone.
Sea is expected to be back to normal by late tomorrow so I am guessing there will be an early morning trip on Monday by Phil, up to Cervantes to put the boat in and do a spot of fishing. I am happy to fish off the jetty or in the bay but son likes to head to Africa and I like to be able to walk back to the beach!! Too many big biteys out there for this old duck!!
