Some of the people swishing for gold i think have no morals (not all of them) the back of my property has been done over like feral a pig that destroys everything looking for roots,
the worst thing is they have never asked for permission to come on my property and they have never filled a hole in yet, it looks like a mine field some of the holes are about two feet across and deep.
If i ever caught them in the process they would need to buy a new detector at least before they left the property, much to the disgust of one off my boys who happens to be a police officer.
Pomme.

So the moral of the story is you have to get grumpy (shouldn't be hard for me) and have your wife kick you out of the house - to find some gold!

It's a good story and I am happy for the prospector, but I am not surprised. For those of us who live in Victoria, they hear on the news every year a few weeks before Easter there is an amazing find of gold near Ballarat, Bendigo  or Castlemaine (The golden triangle). It helps boost the tourism dollar,I have always hoped these stories are true, but I have my doubts. One thing for sure ,there is still plenty of gold out there, you just need to be in the right spot with the right tools and a lot of luck.....cheers Peter.

Trying not to be a cynical Olde Barsteward, why are these "finds" made so regularly around Easter ????

As a new member of some of the prospecting clubs, I know they hammer the concept of fill in your holes, leave it as you found it, and ALWAYS ask permission from the owner of private land.

There is also some skepticism around about how many times this particular nugget has been found, people think they remember it being found about three years ago. May be just coincidental that Minelab have released a new super expensive detector, at over $10k each could land Pomme with a big damages bill.
