Hoax emails, beware.

My work colleague told me that his wife had received an email, containing an attachment, and she opened it. They had then spent about $4000, upon ringing the bank they had to close all accounts and get re-issued with cards etc.

Coming home at lunch time my wife informs me about this unusual email from "Norton AntiSpam", she hadn't opened it, but reading it I found it was a order placement. The cost $6062. It also has a zip file attached to it supposably giving purchase details, DO NOT OPEN IT, you loose money!

I have advised the bank and checked our bank details, all OK atm.

It's a wise move to delete ALL e-mails you receive from people you don't know offering all types of benefits, prizes etc., and NEVER click on any attachments...

I got one yesterday from an address ending in .ni (Nigeria?).  My Kaspersky security system prevented me from opening the attached zip file.

I think that the text referred to an invoice for around 4000AUD.

No action on any bank accounts.

Hi iana

It would be good if you could remove the active link from your message as someone may click on it with dire consequences

Iana !! I agree with Happycamper,  would be safer if you did NOT post the ''Live Link" - But your warning is also a beneficial post ! smile

Sometimes, depending on mood, I respond to scammers. Especially those who offer me hundreds of millions of Dollars. I have a standard response, which I will add below. At times I make a small alteration depending on circumstances. The link is safe for you to click on:

Dear

Yes I heard something was going down in Libya. Sorry to hear about your dad.

Unfortunately I am unable to help you with this transaction as I'm already involved in a couple of multi-million dollar deals with Miss Pamela Bin Laden and Miss Sandra Hussein.

Don't worry I won't mention the fund to the Interpol Officers if they happen to pop round for tea.

Take care in Africa I heard there are a lot of scammers there.

I keep getting emails from Westpac asking for my details etc, we haven't had an account with them for years, so that email got the short shirt quick smart.
