And also a BIG welcome from me, Have you looked at the Mitsubishi Challenger, it's virtually an Enclosed wagon variant of the Triton 4 door 4WD ute, which has a pretty good record, if Your only pulling 2 tonne, it would do it easy, and you would get a New or Near New one for that money, !!
the downside of the enclosed like a Patrol or Land Cruiser is if you carry any containers with fuel or other smelling stuff, you and your passengers will get to share it.
Last van we towed with a Patrol and didn't like it for the smells and loss of some space - you also need to consider how the rear door opens when your caravan is hitched up to it.
This time, with our latest 'van, we got a DMax 4 door ute and had a top fitted on the tray. Brand new it cost us $32K. Its rated to tow 3.5 tonne
What sort of tow vehicle to get is a common question here and its gets lots of answers - try hitting the search button up the top of the screen and entering "tow vehicle" and also the names of various vehicles you may be considering - it should bring you up all the previous posts and comments

We spent almost 4 months on the road round WA in the DMax and the comfort factor was 10/10 - no complaints at all - no stiff or sore backs (although we don't drive more than 4-5 hours a day unless we cant avoid it).
Depends on which model DMax you go for with bells and whistles inside. Obviously the high speced one has the most (also more things to fault). We bought the bottom of the range DMax - the SX - because we wanted it for towing our caravan. It has stiffer springs in the rear to help prevent sag (but a bitch if you go over those metal speed humps in car parks lol) and rubber flooring so we weren't trying to get red dust and mud out of carpet.
They have a light Isuzu truck motor in them (theyre turbo'd), so can easily be serviced right round Aust in country areas. I found out recently that vehicle manufacturers apparently have a rating system based on warranty faults going from the worst at 1 to the best at 10. DMax is rated at 10.
The only bitch I have with the interior of the Dmax is lack of storage space (glove box and door recesses very slim), but my son has a new Nissan Navara and it is just as bad

Don't discard twin cab utes, we had Pajero's for fourteen years and then went to a twin cab ute. Found the cabin to be much quieter on the road because the volume of the cabin is much less than the big wagon. Also the advice from an other forum member about keeping smells out of the cabin with a ute is good advice. I also like the ute because it has a longer wheel base which adds to the stability of the whole rig when towing.
Any of the popular makes of 4x4 or utes will do the job very well for you, however don't be lured into one of the cheap Chinese makes without some careful research, sales have dropped off dramatically which makes you wonder whether there are any issues with them. A recent article in the press indicated there are more than a few issues with them.
