An emergency bushfire warning has been issued for Casuarina and Bertram in WA, with a blaze threatening lives and homes in Perth's southern suburbs and partially shutting down the Kwinana Freeway.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) issued a bushfire emergency warning for the western part of Casuarina and the eastern side of Bertram.
The fire is burning in the Spectacles north of Thomas Road and is burning in a south-easterly direction towards the Kwinana Freeway.
The emergency warning covers those areas bound by Anketell Road, Treeby Road, Bombay Boulevard, Orton Road and Johnson Road.
DFES says burning embers are likely to be blown around homes in the area with spot fires starting up ahead of the blaze.
It says residents are in danger and need to act immediately to survive.
Main Roads said the freeway is closed from Mortimer Road to Rowley Road northbound but it is still open to traffic heading south.
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR: The bushfire is moving fast in a south easterly direction. It is out of control and unpredictable. Burning embers are likely to be blown around your home. Spot fires are starting up to (number) metres ahead of the fire.
