I need new tyres for the Ranger 265/65/17. So far looked at everything from Coopers to Micky Thompson to Kumho's. Been told that Coopers tend to seperate in really hot conditions. and BFG's and MT's are up close to $400 each. Any ideas would be gratefully accepted, especially regarding Kumhos
Had Kumho fitted to my Prado last October , Got them from Bob Jane highway type 80 klm Warranty $235 ea I like them nice looking tread,Had Dunlop AT20 last time the ride feels the same , I don't do any off road so can't comment on off road
I put a set of Maxxis A/T on my Ranger this time ( I had Bridgestone Duellers before) I'm very pleased with them they are very quite and not a hard ride I think they were $220 each, since fitting them I've been to Cairns twice (from Brissy) on one trip all over the Palmer River gold fields across to Lawn Hill and home inland not one flat and still heaps of tread left.

I have just put on a set of Bridgestone Duellers paid $250.00 each 265/65/17 AT hope I have a better run out of these than the Kumhos I just took off they were crap about 43000 KM, all HWY driving,handled alwright but not good mileage.
Try General tyres, Grabbers AT, made to a standard by a Americian company known more by GT Radials promote d by Alan Moffitt of the motor racing fame.)
The set I had on my Land Rover Discovery were proving to be good value, good all rounder, fuel economy hard to tell if any better, next to none road noise compared to my previous expensive set which has a big advertising campaign and used by TV Presenters on weekend travel shows.
Sold vehicle after having them for 30000 ks and could see they were wearing even and could be around for quite a long time yet.
Yes I will be buying a set for my new replacement vehicle when due and sooner the better and have already placed a order for the replacement tyes for caravan by the same manufacturer as they have a high load rating with a very good speed rating which I need for our single axle caravan weighing just under 2 tonne.

I just put a set of Cooper AT3 118R on my Collie, time will tell I spose. They are on special at the moment with a good saving. I had BFG AT's on the previous Tug (Prado 4x4).

had Khumo's on the Navara only got 35,000 k's out of them - really like BFG but pricey. A friend who has done all the desert crossings over the last 6 yrs and has not even had a puncture with BFG's. Just put Maxis on the van - too early to tell yet

I was a BFG fan but last time I said they were to expensive and tried the GT (General Tyres) tyres to my surprise they were quiter with a similar tread pattern at a much lower price.
I met a couple of owners using these tyres one was on his second set while the other changed to a new vehicle swapping the tyres soon other taking delivery of the new 4WD vehicle. Ralph.
