Sue, I, Sheba and Joe50 and the dog Sasa, survived cyclone but no power for approx. 6 weeks (generator) and phones/wireless internet last night. We hit by trees etc but under steel framed carport thank the Gods as 1/2 a tree crashed onto roof and branch pieced side of van above kitchen. Tree against van door but Sue managed to squeeze out to get SES. Took 2 teams and a chain saw to clear a pathway to driveway.
Will post pictures when I can.
Peter

No, I'm not busy, I did it right the first time.
Self-powered wheelie walker, soon a power chair (ex. Nomad)
Thank goodness you are all ok. A fair bit of damage it seems but everyone safe. That's the main concern, a long time of cleaning up it seems. All the best to you all.
Sheba lost 3 windows and rain/glass inside whilst Joe50 lost a window and solar panel on his bus. We all very lucky.
Yeppoon Hospital full of elderly because of humidity and heat. Without generator for fan, oxygen concentrator and nebulizer I'd have to go to Rockhampton but they nearly full too.
Friend and his wife came at 4.30pm yesterday evening and cleared most of the trees/branches with my chainsaw (can't use anymore because of health) by 7pm. Have a porta-potti and shower cubical now.
People really sick of the price gauging though, $1.70 litre of unleaded and $10 a bag of ice instead of $4. We all need fuel for our generators so have to pay.

Hi Peter and Sue. Its great to hear you guys got through with only damage to property and no injuries. Its a worry that not more public facilities are not built or modified so that it can run on generators and provide a cool and low humidity area for the infirm - who maybe don't need hospital treatment, but just the right living conditions. It would be better for them and cheaper in the long run as these facilities could be used for public use at other times.
With the price gauging - the ACCC should be monitoring this to ensure these costs can be justified - ie, is it true cost or ripping off people. You wonder with the ice!!!
Hope things only get better and its doesn't drag on too long with the insurance companies:))

regards price gouging: when this is all over everyone in town should boycott these businesses. glad you are all ok. rocket
