Probably because consider themselves capable of handling the risk - they do have a bit of experience. Possibly also because they don't like being ordered around. Cyclones can be a memorable experience plus if you are on the spot where the damage has occurred you can help others.

It was on the Brisbane TV news were they went to a caravan park and told them to move and they refused to leave .
Where is the web link to the news item (they all have web sites?) It is a bit useless asking for comments and items we do not have reference. You have been around long enough to know to include a link.

A lesson to be learned here methinks. Unless one knows for certain that there were Grey Nomads in this park, unless one knows for certain that if there were some Nomads in the park that they all refused to leave, unless one is absolutely sure that what one is reading in the press, or on TV, is accurate, then tis surely better to leave the subject alone????? One thing is for sure Brickies, if you stick your neck out on this forum some one will almost certainly tell you to pull it in!
Regards to all,
Phil.

And I find it difficult to accept the removal of that
Choice by do-gooders and uniformed peeps
That set rules for other are supposed to follow
And this seems to be a case that makes that point
Tell that to firefighters or SES that get called to rescue the "you can't tell me what to do" brigade when "it" all hits the fan and they have to risk their lives to save the dickheads.

Delta I am a retired Firefighter and would not go into an area where there are any warning given about possible danger , Has for cyclones you should always travel north of the track of the eye to be safe . Has for getting my head cut off on this forum at least by being smarter on the road I will have less chance of it happen there . We also keep an eye on our laptop at all time for weather warning and try to stay clear of any forecast events eg Fire ,floods and wild storms .If someone with knowledge of the an event give me warning I feel grateful for there advice, And like KiwiJim gave on the 14 February about the cyclone heading to the Queensland coast .
