We are on the road shortly traveling Adelaide to Albany, WA. Any one recently driven this route. I'm interested with diesel fuel prices and any other points of interest for this trip. We are in know rush either, thinking of stopping at Streaky Bay for a day or so, plus other places that intertest us.
We took 6 weeks from Norseman to Ceduna first time we crossed Nullarbor. Depends on how much time you have as to what you have time to see. Could easily spend 6 to 8 weeks Norseman to Albany.
The must see's from my opinion are, Cape LeGrand NP ( including Lucky bay), around Esperance, Stokes, Hopetoun, Fitzgerald NP, Jerramungup, Bremer Bay, Cheynes Beach, Two Peoples Bay.
Streaky Bay is lovely. But why not follow the coast from Port Augusta and have a stay at/near Port Lincoln; the Whalers Way drive is well worth doing from there. Then Coffin Bay is a quiet place we really like. There is a lot of interest along the coast from Coffin Bay to Streaky Bay.
The Shelly Beach CP, just out of Ceduna, is pleasant.
Fowlers Bay, west of Ceduna, worth the side track to visit.
If you like quirky and different have a night or two at Cactus Beach camp area.
Out of Esperance, Cape Le grande NP and Cape Arid NP (Thomas River camp area).
Bremer Bay. Fitzgerald River NP.
We did this trip last year. Left Adelaide on 8/8/2014 and arrived in Albany on 1/9/2014. Did the East & West Coast of the Eyre Peninsular before crossing the Nullarbor. Paid $2- litre for diesel at Nullarbor & Madura. By passed them on the way back in November and the price at dropped as well to around $1.85 to $1.89. (Eucla $1.85). We enjoyed Port Lincoln National Park, Koala Sanctuary at Mikkira Homestead. (Never seen so many Koalas in the wild.
Naturally our timing was for the whales in the Bight and the Wild Flowers above Perth. Fraser Station just before Norseman is worth a night. We free camped most of the way only staying in CPs when in larger towns. We are heading back to Perth in June on our way to Broome.
Thank's for the responces. We rode our bikes in 2012 on the Eyre for three weeks, that included Port Lincoln, Coffin Bay, PL& Coffin Bay national parks and plenty more.
We need to be at Albany by the middle of March, were planning riding the Munda Bidi trail to Perth that will take about four weeks. Leaving Christies beach last few days of Feb.

Firstly fuel cost is what it costs at the time, there are some cheaper places along the Nullabor but generally we top up to the brim at Penong (last reasonable cost E-W) then a top up at Nullabor and Mundrabilla, but really just do it and forget the cost as it usually averages out by the time you reach Norseman.
The bush telegraph is a good way to keep an eye on the rip off places along the route.
Streaky bay is great but steer away from public holidays as it becomes a nightmare ! Smokey bay is a great alternative but again becoming popular, lot's of choices really just take your time and enjoy, we always spend a few nights off road and love the peace and quiet it brings.
I will second Smoky Bay, no e, especially if you like a little fishing or crabbing. But I am biased as i was raised there. If you go into Smoky unhook and go for a drive to Pt Brown.
