Taking a Prohibited Bird into WA

We've been traveling around for just under a year and have visited most states. As we are serving a higher order (see the avatar) we always check to see what is required to bring a caged bird into and/or out of a state (because they're all different surprise, surprise). As we haven't been to WA we thought we'd go there this year and we sent off an email asking what the requirements are only to be informed that since Chika is a Quaker Parrot she is not allowed into WA under any circumstances. I don't know what other animals are also in this category but if you want to check for yourself go to https://www.agric.wa.gov.au/organisms

Regards

Dave

Gerty, if we were to take the trouble to get across to WA we'd probably want to stay there for quite a while because there's a lot we want to see and do there and I reckon that would be too long to put Chika into some sort of care. We'll figure something out but in the meantime there's an awful lot to see where they don't mind us having a budgie with attitude :)

I had to google Quaker parrot... now I understand. Maybe the WA powers that be are worried your bird will start a feral population of south American birds all on his own!
what about that bird place where you were working a few months ago, (some name like Apple ?) Would they keep him for you? It would a shame to miss out on WA altogether, its an amazing place.

Gerty, everything I've seen and heard about WA is about what a great place it is to visit (a little pricey but still worth the effort). Unfortunately there is a real risk of losing the bond she has made and placing her with other birds would almost certainly bring this about and we're just not prepared for this eventuality.
