mate turned up today with a couple of backpackers looking for a cheap place tto pitch their tent for the night. Young lass from switzland and young lad from france. Great kids. The young lass as a phd and speaks 4 languages (I can only understand one). Got my entainment sorted for tonight
It's nothing special to speak 3 or 4 languages or even more in Europe most people speak more than one
John
Well aware of that, I was duty manager at the biggest back packers in Broome for nearly 12 months and rest assured most are only bilingual and most also have a degree of some sort.
I was with a tour travelling around the Baltic region last year. Our Tour guide was a PHD Psychology.
He spoke 10 languages and I think I heard him speaking in 9 of those. Facinating person.
Earned more doing the tour guide thing (his own Company with four partners) than he could in Malaga Spain using his degree. Taking four months off each year as well.
well I spent the day showing them around the local area, well about 200km for the day. Then back to base for a feed of kanga steaks and bottle of red. then spent another couple hrs showing them pics of other states they hadn't been too. So a great day aand evening and I still cant swear right in any of the four languages
they were trying to teach me
cheers

I bet you had a good time Robert
It's a pitty that we don't look after the backpackers more
they still bring in a fair amount of money into Australia
We always invite them here in Hervey Bay to come around for a drink or a barbie when we start to talk to them
We met this way some lovely people from all over the world
