Whats happened to My Router

Luck would have it I think my DLink DIR-626L Router has become bitchy.

Before proceeding with my problem, this is my internet setup form the NBN NTD(access point) I run Cat6 cable to a gigabit WAN port on my router.

This afternoon I lost internet connection, I re booted both the router and PC, then I reset the router back to original settings, when configuring the router it could not find the internet.

Luckily you can connect directly to the NTD from the PC network port, So I have full speed internet at the PC but no WIFI access for other devices.

I not too keen on buying another router as I have only 3 or 4 months before we plan to hit the road.

I would like to have my foxtel and smart tv able to access the net but I am unsure of the best option

Could it be that the firmware may be corrupted? If you can, get to the D-Link website and see if there is a firmware update. If there is download it to your computer and install it. It may help.

For some unknown reason said router decides to start working again.

I was at the point of chucking it in the bin when I thought i'll try it again lo and behold it works.

I'm not going to tempt fate the only thing I changed was the password to log in to the router and the passwords to the wifi.

sometimes all it needs is a rest for a few hrs
I presume you have yours turned on 24 hrs a day

This ain't going to be a problem again, went down to the Technology Market at Bundoora today and picked up a TP-Link 8 port Gigabit switch.

My set up now is from The NTD to switch port 1 with cat6 cable, both laptops are now hard wired along with the printer and Foxtel box via the powerline adaptors, also the wireless router, so now the only things that connect via wireless are the Smart TV, mobile phones and tablet.

The next modification to the setup is to position the router in the lounge and connect it to the switch via the powerline adaptors and then connect the TV and Foxtel using cat 5 cable.

I will then restrict wireless access by using MAC addresses 2.4 Wifi 1 phone and the 5gig Wifi for the other phone and tablet, both laptops will have their Wifi switched off.

lets hope the next step works
