Just a thought - NT camping

I wonder if anyone would be interested in swapping a few hours work in return for free camping on our block near Adelaide river/Batchelor? No facilities and on a dirt road but dump points and water in both towns. Big fire pit wildlife and close to river fishing and Litchfield. How does this sort of thing usually work out?

We opened our place for overnight stays (48) hours but no work involved, worked great, met some great people and learnt heaps.

Be careful re liability if having people work and possible injury. If push came to shove you would be deemed a employer.

Can recommend the WWOOF system, a bit more effort but we have had many years of meeting new people from around the world and getting a wee bit of help around the place as well.

It's very tempting we are currently in Yulara doing some work before we set off north about April / May nothing better than camping by the river. Will try to contact you when our time here is coming to its end. Im presently maintenance supervisor/worker for travel co and my wife is a teacher currently working in aboriginal community store. But basically we are retired grey nomads wandering the country very slowly Maybe our paths will cross regards Bru

Thanks for replying crofter. But when I say there are no facilities that's true. No where to put woofers and no real work for them. Just need a hand cleaning up a bit and building a bush camp.

This brings up a question regards to the Housesitters Wanted in the Classified.

Does anybody have success with replying to these, do they get back to you. I applied to one about a week ago, haven't heard anything yet.

If they have already got someone, wouldn't they delete their request.

G'day Happywanderer!

We advertised for house-sitters in Canberra a couple of years ago, and had dozens of replies. Pulled the ad off fast, but even so had to send a lot of e-mails. I don't think folks expect to have so many replies etc, we were over-whelmed.

Have you looked at http://www.housecarers.com/

No I haven't Gerty. This particular one just took my fancy, won't name names as don't want to embarrass them.  I might still hear from them.
