PIRELLI TYRES;;

The truck came fitted with 195/75/R16 LT Pirelli  tyres.

These are PURE CRAP;; 20,000kl one front came apart from the steel belt & blew; its mate was distorted as well.

22,000kl & a rear has gone the same with its mate not looking to good as well, all 4 rears almost worn out & irregular wear factor.

Held up till monday now to try & get an alternative set for rear. BUGGER BUGGER;; not impressed.

Now made Turkey, they should have left them there.

JC.

Howdy - Just read about your lousy experiences with Pirelli tyres. I had something similar with Coopers - tested them on the Gunbarrel Highway, one year and they just didn't handle it at all.

Once bitten - twice shy.

Anyway - looking at your avatar.........you have a couple of "spare tyres" there ! LOL !!

have you jumped up and down with the importer - they may at least replace them and you can flog them off on ebay or gumtree - otherwise complain to the ACCC - large companies are VERY sensitive to consumer protection agency complaints and usually fall over themselves to shut you up by doing a good deal

I put 3 Pirellis on last March 2014, after a blow out with another brand. Three tyres were 7 years old.  The spare is an 8 year old Pirelli and I'm just about to replace it with a new one, so hopefully I'll get some distance out of them. As Aus-Kiwi says, tyre pressure is important.

Cooper tyres don't like gravel roads friend had them complained only 20,000 km got told they won't last on gravel roads also think they must be rotated every 5000 k for their " warranty " terms or similar son had them on his cruiser and was dissapointed also, over priced and over rated

Read the Cooper warranty. It is far more detailed than that. Essentially unless driven in city areas they have no warranty. Read it and interpret as you will.

Yeah I went through the same drama concerning whether Coopers were covered by warranty if driven off road. The tyre company where I've had a few sets of tyres from said they would be covered, which I know seems to contradict what the warranty actually says. If they were only covered in city areas that means any driven around suburban areas or regional areas would also not be covered. Incidentally, luckily I've never had to find out if I was covered because I got excellent wear out of both sets of Cooper All Terrains that I have tried so far and a lot driving was done on dirt and gravel roads. I am now using Mickey Thompsons (which are also made by Cooper Tyres) and find them even better for dirt/gravel road driving, although I probably won't get the 70,000Km on those before they'll need replacing. One thing I did find about the Mickeys is that they are still great in the wet even at 80% of their life (about 60,000 Km) which is much better than any brand of 4wd tyre I've tried so far (BFG, Cooper, Goodyear and Bridgestone)

Hi J&L
Happy New Year to you two.

Not a good start to the year mate, sorry to hear you are having so much grief.

I have 16" Goodyear Wrangler AT on my Nissan and they have done 40,000km now and are still looking good. Like you I tour on the blacktop with occasional dirt track to a campsite.

Hope you get some satisfaction from the dealer over this. They should last much longer than that.

talk soon mate

cheers

frank
