This one is growing rapidly and has the potential to be catastrophic especially with a southerly wind if you are travelling in this general area it would be very smart to head to one of the major cities maybe have a break beside the beach till it's over.
For travellers there is a free app that will provide information called " Fires near me" Monitor the ABC radio or TVs
www.alert.sa.gov.au
Please play safe and leave any areas anywhere within 100 Kim of current fires as they are moving very quickly there is an expected major wind change this afternoon around 2pm.

Good advice Aussietraveller, With the expected wind change coming in, all Hell could, and will break loose,
There is no way, anyone can fight a fire in high wind and around 40 + deg
I see they have pulled all fire-fighters out of the Adelaide Hills, just too dangerous,
Could well be another "Ash Wednesday" coming up.
anyone with in sight of smoke should be high tailing it NOW as Aussietraveller said, get to the coast, and if its still dangerous grab a boat ,
don't worry about property, that can be rebuilt, "You only live once" take care people !!

Very sad for people who live in the areas affected by fire. Such a tragic loss of property and sometimes lives. But what can be done about it ? You can't tell people not to live in the bush...

Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
BG we can help people who choose to live in a bush environment, people need to accept responsibility for their own property and prepare for wild fire events. There will be fires where no matter what you have done to prepare the fire will win.
But you can do an awful lot to protect your home and lives and greatly improve the chance of your home still being there after the fire has passed
As volunteer firefighter with fourth years experience and the last five years trying to educate the community and doing property assessments I still see homes almost buried in overgrowth and roofs covered in a layer of leaves.
People who live in a bush environment really need to develop and maintain an asset protection zone and most importantly have a Bushfire survival plan that is updated annually and practiced to ensure that your plan works.

I hope these fires are controlled more quickly than expected, I know some of our NSW Firies crews have already left to help. Not sure SA or Vic. Both states have helped us so much in the past.
There are people on facebook from SA asking for places to move their horses to off their threatened properties. Very sad. I hope people are able to help.
