No, it is just the bawdy humour of the working class.  A bit low-brow for some I suppose, but legitimate.  Often dry and just as good satire and social comment as the gilded words of the 'edumacated'.

We praise the literary value of Shakespeare's works for instance, but relatively few stop to think how he crafted different layers of meaning (and different characters and circumstances) to appeal to all of his audience, from the lowest uneducated (well at least non-institutionally educated) to the nobility and kings and queens.

Perhaps some here have read Geoffrey Chaucer's (1342-1400) Canterbury Tales, another example of the enduring appeal of a bit of naughtiness.  More examples exist in the humour of the late Benny Hill and others.  Benny Hill reminds that it doesn't have to be words, images and symbols, all is taken advantage of for comedy.

Maybe we are regressing with political correctness and are unconsciously stereotyping everything in the mould of that.  Whereas the obvious and innocent explanation is right and rarely necessary.  Perhaps we are too censorious too, when all should enjoy the humour that tickles their fancy.

It is not about men's ego.  Otherwise we would be obliged to say for instance , that female names for motorhomes is all about women's ego.  Neither is true and it is just fun.  PC can take a rest.

You tend to see them a lot on utes in areas where young guys go out pigging, only drink XXXX Gold (even though they have Bundy Rum stickers on their vehicles), and have bull horns or "Such is Life" stickers on their rear windscreens as well.

I find them offensive. See them about every now and again. Akin to some t-shirt slogans and window stickers where the "f" word is used in full or part. Feel sorry for those who feel a need to display them.

I call it individualism. Our troops were famous for this and their hatred of authority. Have a laugh and let live. We've had enough of PC and I know I have.

If there was an award for the funniest post here apart from Lesley's opener that is, it would be Ame25's post declaring, "My son-in-law has a nice blue set!".

Not going to enjoy many grandchildren if that state of affairs prevails, Ame25.   biggrinbiggrin
