Prado for towing

Yes , I could go to the Toyota forums, but I wanted to know from fellow caravanners, does anyone tow a 16 ft poptop van with a 4 cyl turbo diesel prado, the one I am looking at is a 1999, but low k's in good condition, are they up to the job, any idea on fuel consumption etc. Any feedback appreciated.

Regards, John.

We tow with a 2005 diesel Prado, and it is definitely "up to the job". Our van weighs a bit less than 2,000kgs, fuel consumption when towing a is about 15/100k, not towing 12/100. My partner loves it!

I think you will find there is a lot of difference between a 99 model and a 05 model Prado.

We have a 2001 Prado and we towed a 21ft Jayco with no problems at all. So your smaller van would be even better.
