Has anyone stayed at any of their parks?

Is it any different from Oz Parks who also offer some low priced parks without the bells and whistles (as well as others) which was founded by the late Ozjohn and his wife?

HI Igo,

I stayed at the Murrurundi CP, NSW, earlier in the year. I booked in for one night and ended up staying for three weeks. You could not ask for nicer people to welcome you. Doug and Carol have been GN's so understand what is wanted by this part of the travelling public and have priced their park accordingly.
It was clean, nice flat drive through sites, and the town is lovely. There is a lot of history there and the pub in the middle of town had the best $10 lunches.
A really nice spot.

The Park in Mt Gambier, Sth Aust, I know where it is and it is virtually in the middle of town, easy walking distance to everything in town, I have never stayed here, so cannot comment on the way the park is run or what their facilities are like. The park has been there for as long as I can remember, having been born and bred in Mt Gambier. I am here at present but always stay a little way out of town at the Pine Country C P.

Kui Parks is signing up smaller parks, as do Oz Parks, they have a special on at the moment, $24 for 24 months membership. You get 10% discount.

Friends own a park in Seymour (Highlands), and they have joined, their park is in Emily Street, near Kings Park, walk to town, very clean amenities, but none of the bells and whistles. Pet friendly. Obliging owners.

Gday...

The Kui Parks website states "Bert van Spronsen said Kui Parks "fills the gap" between free camping and resort-style holiday parks, offering inexpensive, nomad-friendly facilities run by independent caravan park operators."

Kui.JPG

Checked out their website - and the websites/information for each of the Victorian parks listed. With the exception of one park ($28/night) all the others were over $30/night and upwards hmm.

Perhaps I am wrong ... and willing to be shot down in flames ... but I do not see that those parks are offering "inexpensive" powered sites. cry

I doubt I will be availing myself of these parks - but I will keep an eye on their website to see if parks that join in future are actually "inexpensive". cry

Cheers - John

Would have to agree with you John ..Will also watch this space to see how it progresses .. but while the concept is good, I feel they are just behind the 8-ball and not a challenge to current values as I see it !

We stayed at Silver Wattle in Mt Morgan.
The young couple who run the place are wonderful and really having a crack at making it better.
I believe they have even moved or removed cabins to make a larger camping area.
Highly recommend!
Also stayed at Inverell, another great spot. The chain certainly attracts great hosts!
I believe that one feature is that prices aren't put up in peak season.
Another is Happy Hour which we enjoyed.
Cheers

Gday...

Could be so in the one you stayed at. However, check those listed on the website. Many do have peak and non-peak rates.

Cheers - John

We stay in very few caravan parks, but when we do, we opt for the lower priced ones - to us over $25 is too much for the privilege of using a small piece of land, and usually we use our own facilities, only taking advantage of water and power. And from experience at a park that meters your power, and charges accordingly, we know we use very little electricity - at that park, we used everything, even the aircon - and our power consumption was under $1!!!!!!

Gday...

I agree with you Jules. I believe $25 is a fair price and anything above that moves me to another town/park. Interesting, there are very few (if any) that charge less than $25 on the KUI site. Which is why I feel the "chain" is a bit misleading in their claim their chain provides "inexpensive, nomad-friendly" parks.

Interesting you have found your use of 240v is "under $1 including air con" per night. I too am very self-contained - only thing I run on 240v in van park is my fridge and kettle. However, that usually ranges from $8 to $12 per week for even that little usage. I guess some parks must charge more or less for the "use of electricity".

Cheers - John
