UPDATE ON THE CHIEF

Yep, thought I'd give a bit of info that only those at Greens Lake, Central VIC know.

We have have a couple of really bad days of rough wet weather, Saturday and again Monday. Big deal I hear you say. Well it was as early Sunday morning, like 1.00am had to get up but not saying why confusesmile  and stood in a puddle of water, bugga.

Yep, a dreaded leak coming from the centre hatch, bugga again. Now I had found a couple of minor things that I wasn't happen with, you know, the usual quality control thing. So Sunday I made a phone call to the dealer as I had his mobile number and he said leave it with him. Shortly after the head Chief from the factory rings, what's the problem Doug, so explained, Bugga. Well not exactly those words if you know what I mean.

Now you hear bad stories about these people all the time but not in this case. Why I hear you say, ok I'll tell you.

Today, the head Chief of the tribe arrived in person here at Greens Lake armed with goodies to solve all things causing problems. I sit here with all things fixed and apologies all round, well nearly all fixed. Unfortunately the Arrow will have to go back to the main reservation at my convenience to have something done to the roof to solve the problem properly. After discussing this it has been decided to get this job done when I take it back to Melbourne for the Arrow to get it's first service. All good.

I haven't said anything on the forum as I wanted to see how I was treated and what the outcome was going to be. This really put the dealer and the factory to the after sales service test for sure. They are still up there with service etc and I am extremely happy with my "Chief, Arrow" nothing was too much trouble and just wanted me to be happy with my new Chief and I tell you that for free.

Yep, one happy camper again.

That is certainly good service.

What is the cause of the hatch leak?

yeah.....great to hear that at least one retailer and manufacturer of 'vans in Aust stand by their products and provide the outstanding service you got. Pity about the other 99.9% of them being a bunch of greedy A************s who just want your money and to hell with you.
What I cant get over with the 'van industry is they seem to lack the ability to understand the term "word of mouth" recommendations. So many vanners meet each other on the road and discuss their 'vans and the after sales service they get - I most Nomads buy more than one van.
For example I don't recommend the dealer or manufacturer of the new 'van we bought recently and two people were looking at buying the same brand - but not anymore - so theres two lost sales.......how many more do they loose nationally from these fireside comments?

Doug - if its a 4 seasons hatch that's leaking - it seems to be a common thing. One of mine leaks and apparently its from poor fitting and not being sealed properly. Mine even leaks if I have the air con on and the roof is tilted towards the hatch. The dealer is going to fix it by sealing it properly, but the sealer takes 2 days to dry off and the 'van cannot be moved in that time

How, Bruce and Bev,

It's not a four season hatch mate, its a "Ranger" one that lifts up with gas struts and has these fancy pantsy lights around it inside. Not bad but won't have it up in strong winds. I like them though. They have screens and/or block outs fitted.

Yep, good service for sure Wendy, nothing to complain about.

It was a faulty hatch and was replaced (they had another one late last week) Something out of the factories hands really cos they don't make the hatches.

All good now and as I said great service. from both Luxury RV's  or  Chief CV's.

Something I didn't mention....I wasn't happy with the table so he asked what I wanted and came up with new table and just changed it over as he agreed with my reasoning as soon as he saw it.

It is fortunate that you found the hatch problem whilst still in Victoria and with time to have fixing done.

By the look of the weather forecast, the new hatch should get a bit of testing, too, over the next week!
