Scalibor tick collars for dogs

Has anybody used these? What was your experience? It works out much cheaper than fortnightly applications of Advantix, and the local Vet recommended them.

Am trialling them on our 2 whippets but they seem to be scratching a lot after 10 days. The thing is we put the collars on when we first got them so don't know if they were scratching before.

Like you, we have been using Advantix. We usually buy it from Ebay at under $40 for 3 doses. Mistimed things & ran out so went to a nearby vet....$66.( for 3 ) Ouch !
We'll be watching this thread for replies.
Would be good to find an effective, cheaper option.
Do the collars smell when first opened ?

No smell Chopit. I thought it would be good, am watching these 2 to try to judge how often they scratch.

There's another gadget called Mitey Tick Shield or something similar which emits a sound vibration only ticks can hear and last 3 months. They wear it on their collars like a name tag, and contains no poison. But its $65.

I have used Bay-O-Pet Kiltix tick and flea collars twice now and have had now problem. Price varies so between $13 to $15. I have 2 golden retrievers and used them in NSW one year and QLD this year.

good to know for when you are on the road, Vetnpet Direct have a websire you can order off and they will post your order out to wherever you request.....ie a Post Office if you are on the road, and they do that fast! I have no connection with them but have used the service often and I am always pleased with the service.
