Could have put this in Techs forum - but its pretty basic for that lol
I have 2 reversing cameras with half of the rear view mirror as monitor. The problem is when backing onto the 'van its difficult to see the vision clearly due to the sun or sky glare (even with the manufacturers screen stick on "dots" behind it.
Ive come up with this really expensive and high tech solution.
I got a piece of cardboard box and cut it into a rough square of about 12-14". I then made a vertical cut down the middle on one side and slipped that behind the mirror with the cut slit pushed up the mirror stem to hold it firm.
Works a treat - can now see very clearly where Im backing and get lined up onto the ball and receiver 1st time everytime now.
Cost - nothing!! Patent pending:)))

Sounds like a great modification - simple and effective. Just out of interest, do you think the rear view mirror type of camera monitor is the best setup or do you think a separate monitor maybe placed lower is better. Reason for asking is that I want to get one but not sure what type.

I got sick of the difficulties of seeing the picture on my mirror screen. I tried moving it,tilting it, putting up a cardboard screen, but in the end I bought a normal small screen off ebay and it mounts on the dash near the instruments. Perfect. Good price too. Not quite as neat but I can see it for a change
Hi Denis. I went the rear view mirror/monitor, because I already have a 7" GPS on my windscreen and if I'd got a 2nd - even 5" - monitor, I would be able to see out the front in all directions.
The piece of cardboard took me all of 3 minutes to cut out to about a 12-14" square and then use scissors to make a cut from the outside of one edge into the centre to allow you to shove it up around the mirror stem and that holds the carboard there.
Appearance is irrelevant. You only put it on when youre backing up to hitch your 'van on and then just pull it off when done and shove the cardboard under the seat or put it wherever
