Caravan Park doing the right thing

Travelling up the New England HWY towards Brisbane and stopped in at the Murrurundi Caravan park in NSW.

Rates were $27 powered, $22.00 unpowered and $10.00 for self contained vehicles.

The owners were past full time travellers in a fifth wheeler and having bought the park decided that they wanted to cater for all sections of the market and part of that market was to those that only needed a safe area to park and had no need for power or other facilities so they simply set aside an area for that purpose.

As travellers they always enjoyed the concept of a happy hour and every day they have one inviting all guests to participate as they arrive.

What a great little park and forward thinking owners.

If other parks could follow this example I am sure that they would all benefit.

Cheers

Mike

Sounds like a good deal. The only other CP I've found with a similar deal was at Ouyen, Vic. The self contained area, which was huge, was $5.00 a night...

What a great idea Mike. Would be good to have that available in all parks. Maybe we would use CVP more often then.

I was saying this to the Mrs when we were up in Longreach recently..

we were staying out at the APEX park, (just fitted in) and I conservatively counted 70 caravans... blankstare

now, consider that when you are thinking $10 a night... x 70

$700 a night,

$4900 a week that the local caravan park is missing out on..

Mike, that is the best little park around. Carol and Doug are the nicest people, I stayed there back in July or August. Booked in for one night and ended up staying for three weeks. The area around the town is lovely as is the town itself. I use to walk into town most days and have the best $10 lunch at the pub, and then back again. There is a little white house just up from the information centre that sells the best homemade goodies around. Doesn't look like much from the outside but inside is lovely and the people really nice.

Certainly a great little park that deserves a good following. I am working on my way back down south to visit again.

Wish I had the time to stay longer but unfortunately this is a work related trip and have a timetable.
But as you say a beautiful location and you wouldn't find nicer people.

Wave as you pass heading south..

We are now in Stanthorpe and will be in Brisbane tomorrow.

Cheers

Mike

Sounds very much like the Charleville Bush CP.

Good to see another CP owner with some forward thinking.
