ANZAC 1914-2014 ALBANY


Just wondering if any forum members are in Albany now or coming to help celebrate this fantastic event.

Had a quick look around this morning and its going to be worth your while .

Albany is turning it on for one and all lots to see and do

Most events are free

This place is buzzing the troop march and official opening of the new National Anzac centre will be opened this Saturday by the Prime Minister Mr Tony Abbott and after that the reanactment of the war and troop ships leaving Australian shores .
The ABC will be broadcasting this live from 8.45 thats western Australia time for those who may be interested .

We have been here for a week. Camped at a friends farm.  Avan club meet up  on the farm, those wanting to stay on for the  Albany celebrations are still there.

We have to be back in Perth today unfotunately.

My moment of fame this morning waiting for the remembrance
service to start this morning when all of a sudden there was Tony Abbott shook hands with him and his wife and also with our state leader Colin Barnett .
Should I wash my hands ?

Were Gary/Sue, Critchy, Joe, Daryl/Grace etc, etc there?   I still miss the WA Avan Club and members, best club in Oz I reckon. smile

I actually thanked him for providing federal money for the new national anzac centre .
I recon he's ok .
most of the events have now finished with the community consert tonight showcasing our local group the Waifs

I visited Sue and Gary at Kalbarri a couple of months back, they had been very ill but were on the road to recovery when I visited. smile
