As I mentioned in previous post we just returned from a week in the magnificent green Tarra Valley <adjacent Yarram Vic> Southern Gippsland.
I saw in Seniors Mag that the 'Best Friend Holiday Retreat' was giving 20% Discount to Senior Card Holders...= $48 daily,Powered individually fenced, drive through, grassed caravan sites and tent sites, adjacent ablution blocks with self operated Hydra Bath Facilities for our little 'Pepe' pooch.....all in magnificent green 'rain forest' type environment on Tarra Valley Road, Tarra Valley....
I'm posting some photos as this Park must be one of the most unique in Australia and the owners were as interested <more in fact> in talking to our dog than us!...the easiest sites I've encountered...drive in to your individually fenced site...set up...drive out when ready to leave....took our granddaughter Brydie, and both were securely fenced...what a relaxing time we had...riding the folding bikes..fishing, trail walking
There are at least 5 individual huge fenced play areas for one dog at a time....we saw free wild echidnas etc, beautiful Parrots in open aviaries, running streams all at the park...90 mile beach nearby and Port Albert fishing with the best Fish'N Chip Café in Australia..we went back 3 times in a week.....
I did see some dogs there that obviously had pedigrees <unlike our little Pepe bitza>...that if they could talk I'm sure they wouldn't talk to any of us......
Some photos.....this unique park made up for losing our front window stone guard on the way...if only some other parks could take note....travelling dog owners are generally responsible..their dogs are invariably' people persons'....poo bags were provided throughout this amazing park and we never saw even one 'indiscretion'.....thoroughly recommend and we have no connection with this park apart from the pleasant memories together with our dog etc........Hoo Roo
This was a complete holiday mate, not just a place to park the Van for the night....big difference in what you would expect to pay for a daily tariff IMO....what's $48 daily tariff, in relation to those unreal resort prices you see on 'Getaway type shows....I paid in one week what they pay for a nights' stay somewhere....I live in the real world...this represented great value to us for what it provided...and the amenities actually were very useful....not a jumping castle in sight.....Hoo Roo

Yep have been to the Tarra Valley in Gippsland a number of times, what a Great rainforest area. very nice part of the world. Yep. that price is not in my normal range neither, However just look at the size of the sites ?/ and the Useful amenities they offer, They advertise and cater for dog owners, In fact i once seen an advertisment for them, that was aimed at the Doggy population, with a footnote that The dog owners are also welcome but only if under control, and at managers discretion ?
Plus i seem to remember that dog minding was also avail, at very low cost, so you are free to go and visit the wonderful rainforest area's As you say, $48 per night, you would not want to live there, but for a week or to special holiday doggy stress free. Is reasonable.
This place is definitely on my go-to list. I have read about it elsewhere too. For what it appears to offer, and its attitude, the price seems reasonable to me. Should be more like it!
We stayed there a few years ago with our little dog. It was great. We had our own fenced site, so we could relax with our little dog being off lead in our area. They have cabins too that allow dogs. It is a little pricey, but a great place to holiday with your pooch
Go easy....we are all entitled to our opinions on where we stay and we certainly prefer non-dog parks - that's our choice. Dog friendly places are great for dog owners who take their dogs whilst those of us who don't take our dogs are entitled to stay at a dog free park if we so wish. Horses for courses.
Regards
Turning everyone's POSITIVE post into a negative is not what I call expressing an opinion.....adds nothing to the positive post and is a lame attempt to detract from it.....if it is not called for what it is, I suggest posts will get out of hand once again like recent events...the only thing positive about his posts is his negativeness..stick his continued negative posts where the sun don't shine....must a happy post such as this have to be closed as well because of constant white-anting?.........Hoo Roo

We are in Tin Can Bay at Kingfisher - definitely dog-friendly. Beach right across the road, so good to get him out and running. A lot of cattle dogs in other vans.
We picked this one as it is not exactly 'child-friendly' - no jumping pillow, no pool, no play equipment or games room (our 'baby' is almost 20, we've done the kid thing). We did not pick it because it was pet friendly, at arrival we had a lorikeet, and no plans to get a dog. Now we have the dog, we are so glad we chose to come here. Will keep the retreat on our list for when (if) we head south again.
Cheers.

What a wonderful idea, so good for those with dogs, will have to put it on our list to visit when we finally get a chance to travel. Thanks for sharing :)
