RE: GN PhillT Meet Up

How,

Shut the front gate Vic. Just as well you didn't have wombat with ya mate, that dog would have made very short work of the little critter for sure biggrin

That wouldn't be a bad thing though biggrinbiggrin

No Patty is a very fussy eater Doug, she would spit Wombat out, the killer chooks would sort him out too wink biggrin

Very nice and friendly people Jules, it was a pleasure meeting them, Phill doesn't post very often, I have sent him a copy of this thread smile

Hi to you both, loved the pictures and the great lifestlyle you have, and Patty is adorable I had a boy just like Patty but he went over the rainbow bridge a year ago in December, he was such a loyal pet and protector, I would take him in the car with me wherever I could, he would push his head into the left side of my face and have the right side pinned up against the window while I drive lol, he was a character for sure, and I miss him so so much.  I love the chickens to, that is what I call living.  Warm regards.....Kisha

Hi Fran & Kisha,

I did a five day trip, unfortunately I couldn't do any longer as those "specialist" appointments seem to interfere with my preferred lifestyle and I had to be back for two of them.

I had one night at the free camp at York (rain was bucketing down), wanted to look at the old grave yard on the south side of the suspension bridge on the other side of the river to the camping area, it is in a step down to the river bank level behind the 1858 Uniting Church, they had a flood at one time and when the river burst it's bank it washed many of the bodies in the graveyard into the river, so they moved most of them to the main cemetery in town.

You have to walk along a narrow and muddy track along the river bank to get to it, and carrying my trust umbrella and with my rain jacket on, shorts and thongs, off I went, being careful not to slip and end up in the river which had a few feet drop.  Looked at the graveyard which was set back a bit and as I started to return, I slipped in the mud and landed "splot" in a big mud patch full length.  With perfect timing some Kookaburra's nearby started laughing, I am sure they saw me fall in the mud.

Laid there for a bit getting my breath back and gingerly got up, everything was fine so all that was hurt was my pride (dam Kookaburra's), I had mud from head to foot and when I returned to my van had to remove my jacket and shorts which along with my umbrella were caked with wet mud and put on a clean pair of shorts after I had washed my feet and legs in a pool of water by the road and used a water bottle to wash my head, face and hands (my arms were covered by the rain jacket).   I stored the clothing in a contaner until I could hose them down later.  Hmmmmmm.......

Then off to Denmark to spend overnight with some rellies (who kindly washed my jacket and shorts after hosing them down on their line) and next day travelled to Northcliffe (beaut little eco caravan park there called "to it" as in getting round to it, $15 a night powered or unpowered, however I moved on to Quinninup C/P ($20 unpowered, $25 powered, plenty of roos and a couple of emus wandering around the grounds.  Then drove on back to Perth from there with a couple of rest stops here and there along the way, and of course my meet up with GN's Phil and Geraldine on the way home which was the icing on the cake...

Great post Vic, just as well you didn't have more than a 5 day trip lol, it seems like you got yourself into more of a mess in the mud than Paddys pigs, sorry I can't stop laughing.  Your experience is very familiar to me lol, I didn't have a puddle to wash myself down, but one of those old hessian waterbags hanging at the front of the truck did the trick, was as cold as lol. You have sure had a nice time by the sounds of it, and its even nicer when you encounter great folks along the way....Kisha
