We've found a nice quiet free site at Alford, just behind the old Primary School. The school has been closed but the oval has been opened up for caravans. There are nice clean toilets and sinks to have a wash in and a large mown area to park ... very easy access. This is up to 3 nights, but nobody keeps count. The pub has only just reopened and the Mien Host is Wayne ... a nice bloke and the locals were very friendly. Alford is very close to Kadina, quiet a large town and a very nice seaside town Wallaroo. Alford has just opened this up hoping to encourage Grey Nomads into the town.
We're just down the road at Moonta, was not aware Alford had done this, full marks to them.
It's a quiet, clean and attractive little spot, in fact most of the shops there have closed down, I suspect the pub is one of the few remaining.
As you say, Kadina just down the road, shopping, dump point, medical etc all available and not far from the great family friendly beaches of the Yorke Peninsula.
I have recently spent 2 nights at Alford and its still a delightful place - quite a few vans stopping over. They ask for a donation so they can continue to keep the grass mowed and the toilets clean. Would be a disaster for a place like this to disappear if people take advantage of it.
