Yes my visit (two nights) were based on your and HW's report on the camp on GN, thanks to both of you for your feedback.

I noticed in the disabled toilet there is a sink type wash basin that could be used for a flannel and bucket wash for anyone wanting a bit of privacy etc.

Meckering on the great Eastern Hwy is also a good freecamp (24 hour) right in town at Memorial Park.  Toilets/Water, shops etc.

You took some great photo's Vic, shows the site off well, should have taken a few myself but left the camera in the van.
Did you go on the walk of the old settlement, some interesting info on the boards telling you of what was there. I believe not many people know of the walk track as it was getting overgrown and that was only last month.

Hi Paul,

I would recommend anyone going there to read the info board at the turn off into the camp from Kwolyin Street which shows the different buildings etc that once stood there.

The old church is the only building left standing and parts of the old tennis club and the remains of the court.   Also a fence around the Aboriginal cemetery.  I didn't follow any path that I could see, just walked around the old tracks etc.   Sad to see a once thriving town which included a hotel no longer there, thank goodness the council recognised this and put up info boards which included old photo's etc and made it into a free camp site.   Well done Bruce Rock Council and their volunteers.

Here are a few more pic's, don't know if they are all that readable on my photo's though.   A school master at Kwolyin called Kendall was also the Head Teacher at the old Forrestfield school when I lived there as a kid around 1946ish....
