...does anyone know if the BP servo on the highway just outside Townsvile still make their site available to campers....
I'll be heading up that way shortly and was just wondering.
Took possession of my "new" Sprinter yesterday....just doing a few little mods...we might christen it at the Marrabel Bull ride in a couple of weekends time.
Last time I was in Townsville, there seemed to be quite a few campers spending the night along The Strand....does anyone know if that is tolerated to some extent ?
I stayed there for several months, and it seemed to be common practice...
anyway...it's Marrabel first...just to check the vehicle on a short drive.
Plenty of fuel for your tug and and fuel for you too. Can be a bit noisy as trucks come and go all night. There is also another good spot a little further South onnthe highway at Aligator Creek next to a Caltex Servo. Similar to BP, plenty of fuel for tour tug and you and some highway noise.
Welcome to the gang marinepics, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Hey there Chief Crazy Eagle....thanks for the reply...and yeah...I guessed that the Strand was probably off limits by now...it's just that I remember quite a few vans there early in the morning, obviously having spent the night there, some even with their washing hanging out !!
No wonder the council has probably clamped down...
The back packers and others get there early and set up for the best part of the day.
I'm not a local but spend 4-5 months there during winter set up in my van at my daughter's place. Spose you could say I'm a "part time" Townsvillian or should that be villain?
