Currently near Perth ( heading south), doing 'The Lap' and my Ducato is due for its 45k service. As my home is in Sydney I have no knowledge of servicing in this area so I would welcome any help on the following;-
1) Can anyone suggest a good service agent in the area?
2) An indication as to a fair price, with or without parts, if you have knowledge of the same.
Google "Fiat Servicing Perth WA" Colin - there is I think quite a big mob in the Waneroo area - can't remember their name.
Whereabouts are you? Did you know there is a Grey Nomad get together this weekend, near Seabird, which is near Gingin - you can read all the details on a thread on this General forum, or further down in the Get togethers sub forum - you would be most welcome, camping is available, 5 acre property - no power or facilities though potable water is available.
This is from the "Get Togethers" sub forum - lot more info on there re address etc. Can Private Message me if you like -
We are on 5 acres up near Seabird . We have bore water and rain water for drinking ,cant offer you power . So if you are set up for free camping you are most welcome to join us. We are 12 kms from the beach and Moore River and about an hour north of Perth. Pets are welcome (and if they like chasing rabbits and roos even better!!)

I have emailed a few local Fiat Agencies through the official web site requesting details as to costings.
I regret however that other than an automated replies I have not received any reply to my query.
One garage did reply to my second direct reply to the automated one and quoted me a price, which to me seemed very high, but only included half of the Fiat recommended service, nor any details as to what the price included, ie parts oils or GST. A further reply by me yesterday seeking clarification has been unanswered.
The above is what has caused my hesitation of booking into an unknown service department.
I'm sorry but I will miss the get together as I have tonight booked into a CP at Middle Swan, ( passing through Gingin on a 420km drive today) for the weekend and on Monday go to the Central CP near Perth airport for the week.
I hope you all have a good weekend and that we may meet up at some future date.
Regards
Colin

53,000 2.5 hours =225 , oil $146.25, oil filter 48.50, air filter element 73.50, globes 14.50 disposal $10 note they last service had extras I had asked for to track down a lighting problem. All oils and parts are genuine.
my book suggests <2 hours for service plus consumables.
If you are unable to locate a Fiat Dealer, check out Iveco. They can do it for you. Fiat and Iveco Vans come out of the same factory in Italy and most mechanical parts are interchangeable...

We are out of warranty now, but rang a Fiat service place in Geraldton, where we were at the time, wanted $885. We said we just want oil changed, oil filter and air filter - will get full service when we get back East - said that was the price, and wouldn't budge. Rang around a couple of other places, found a truck service centre - Road Runner Vehicle Maintenance - they said no worries, oil change, filter and air filter, we can do that.
Took it in - two hours later - all ready, $355!!!!!! They said the air filter was okay, they cleaned it out, and no other worries. You can get your service done at any registered mechanical workshop, even the warranty ones, as long as you get your book stamped and filled in - save heaps of money!
Enjoy Perth - and we will enjoy this weekend, despite the weather!!!!

Servicing is a major expense and is really a rip off by vehicle manufacturers. It's difficult for local mechanics to assist you with servicing coz all components on today's vehicles are computerized and only the Franchised Dealers have the correct laptop to plug into your vehicle. But there are ways around this. You probably know Iveco and Fiat come out of the same factory in Italy. In fact when I broke down at Green Lake last year and was towed into Shepparton to the Iveco Dealer, they were unable to obtain some parts. They got them from Fiat. Same motor. But you said change the oil and filter. Iveco specified engine oil is over $20.00 a liter. I found one for less than $7.00. Oil filter was over $100.00 but I found out the Ryco Z9 filter off a Falcon is interchangeable. $9.00 at AutoBarn. Generic brake pads, half the price. So it pays to shop around. Next March I'm heading to the big Island for a few months. Before I go, I'll change the rear axle and gearbox oil. I'm in the process of locating compatible generic oils. My local mechanic will change the oils at a rate of $50.00 an hour. Iveco in Launceston charge $100.00 an hour.

I had the service carried out this morning by Fiat Professional at Welshpool, Perth. The service seem to have been carried out satisfactory at a total cost of $656.70. The RV was also washed before being returned to me. The only other Fiat Agent who had the curtesy to reply to my emails included a quote for $950.
