table modification for L shaped diner

Hi, A friend had an "L" shaped dining area and had the table modified.

He had the table shortened, and an off-set "crank" or horizontal swivelling arrangement fitted. This allows him to swing the table away from the seats, and at the same time allow more room to fit his generously proportioned belly.

He is on the road and out of touch.

Just wondering how others have coped with this problem, and looking for ideas as to how I might effect such changes to my humble accommodations.

Cheers, and thanks in advance, KB

I have seen only recently tables like that in new vans I have been checking out. Great idea. I also like the trifold tables when a club lounge area is in the van.

Hi Doug,

I have also noticed that several owners of "club" or "cafe" style seating have been removing their installations and replacing the fixed seating with adjustable, reclining swivel seating, and in some cases using the old "stable-table" for dining purposes.

Thanks for your comments good buddy, and cheers, KB

I am thinking along the lines of the recliner style for my new Den when I get it in the near future. I Also use a stable table now in the current Den and more than likely will in the new one. Love my stable table.

Even when at base camp I don't use the dining table as I am on my own, just the old stable table. In fact my iPad is on one now while talking to you.

The twins have to be careful not to spill hot food though biggrin

Hi Keiron,

l've done a lot of research on this, long story. i looked at the tables you mentioned, but decided to completely remove the bench seat along the wall and the fixed table. It was on removing it, that I realised there was stuff all support from the bench seat anyway,

eeeeek, now folk will shake their heads!!! Not strong enough support for the wall etc. However, I contacted the manufacturer, it can be done. I contacted their engineer, spoke to other manufacturers etc, etc There's a great company in Melbourne who will do this for me, and make my existing table a tri fold, thus creating good floor space, which I crave ;)

The company are ADP caravan services, in Kilysth, they have been servicing and fixing my van for the past 2 years and I have faith in them. They are also far cheaper than some.

they are extremely helpful, and will give phone advice.

hope that helps, cheers.

MJ
