We have a Fujitsu inverter split system installed in our Retreat Brampton, we supplied it and the manufacturer installed when the van was built.
While ours was done at build, i do not believe it would be a problem for a competent caravan workshop to install, then get plumbed (they would need a liscenced plumber to hook it up).
Mine was done by a local aircon company.
I made the frame for the outside unit to sit on on the back of the bus and made a cabinet in the rear inside for the inside unit.
Make sure you over engineer the bracing as I feel that there are extra stresses on a moving vehicle and it is best to allow for this.
The total instal took a couple of hours and was relatively easy.
On my bus the pipes went in below the back window where I could easily drill the holes and then went up behind the unit inside.
Just ensue you brace the pipes as much as you can and ensure you can get to everything after the instal is done. Ensure your drain is secure and runs outside as you dont want the excess water inside.
Mine works a treat and uses little power. I can run mine during the day and still charge the batteries if needed and have used when it is hot and good sun so that my system does not waste solar by turning off.
Once the hot water is to a level I know I can have a hot shower I normally elect to pull the bus down a bit to make it comfortable.

Mine was done when we had the 5'er built, first one Truelux had done, they were so impressed by the performance and quietness they now offer them as a standard inclusion.
Ours is a Fujitsu, after over 2 1/2 years of use, just the best decision we made with the van.
As for installation most good repairers would probably do an install, Truelux in Kilsyth Melbourne would do it no problems, they are a very dedicated family business IMO.
Some may try and dissuade you saying they are not designed for it, absolute rubbish, an aircon is an aircon wether stuck on the roof or "A" Frame the internals are the same principle, it's just the domestic type are modern inverter technology.
thanks everyone - just had an email from Murray at Perth Caravan repairs and he has done quite a few installations. He has serviced our previous vans and did a great job of installing an extra 4 seasons hatch in our Jayco so am confident he knows what he's doing. As we will be in Perth in January that will be our plan. Our Honda 2 won't run the dometic and even on 240v power it struggles to cool our 23'van. One of the reasons we chose this van was that the layout is suitable for a domestic split system.
