My last day of real work on Friday 22Augest 34 years service as line worker .Worked in Ryde to Brooklyn area maintaining 11kv /415v mains and supply to customers.. . At 61 I 'm doing the big loop .
A few things to do before we go like some maintenance on home mainly gutters ..
Funny I feel happy, excited yet apprehensive at the same time !! I'm sure I'm not the only one ..
i done the same retired at 69 this july . it only lasts a couple days then you get in the swing of things. i did semi retire at 65 wasn't quite ready to give up totaly .
If you have reached the age for the pension it is surprising how well you can live on the age pension, supplemented by a small super drawdown of about $10000 a year, a couples full pension is now approximately $32000 a year. This pension is now the same as having $1,500,000 invested in a term deposit to give you the same income
Cheers
David
Best of luck Graeme on your retirement, bet you're counting down the days!
My dad retired on the 8th and it was a long count down in that last week. Has been the best thing ever to happen to him and i'm sure you'll be loving your new life and adventures to plan.
Certainly knowing your excitement and not long to go mate....
