Well its not the same thing really, but vinegar has cleaned up my kettle! It had gone very "white" inside after a few months on bore water. Makes you wonder what it does to ones insides???

do you use a inline filter between town water and your tank. that will help.

i use to nun a carpet cleaning business had a big truck mount in the back worth about $50k's . had inline filter, then a magnet and a water softener time it got into the machine and heated up it was like spring water.

my new 5th wheeler has a filter on it before it goes into the pump, i want to get a two filter system on it & a inline filter on hose from tap.

.

My wife and I will never drink bore water due to the (generally) high calcium content. When we lived in the Pilbara the doctor warned us off it. Short term doesn't probably hurt but we just pay for bottled water. Yes it's an added cost but my wife has enough health issues without adding potentially more.
