Luncheon With Peter Fitzsimons As Guest Speaker

I attended a luncheon at a Perth hotel today with Peter Fitzsimons as guest speaker.

Wow, what a mountain of a man, glad I wasn't playing rugby union against him, well over 6 foot and built like a tank!

And what a great speaker he is, not to mention his other achievments and an author.   This is some of his background;

I have met Peter on one occasion and I agree Vic, you look up at him in more ways than one.

He's got a new book coming out in October Doug, not sure what it is being called though, he didn't say, maybe he hasn't chosen a name for it yet. smile

I enjoyed his autobiography but I don't like his columns in the newspaper.

We don't hear much about him over here in the West, I haven't seen his columns.

I was surprised he was coached at International level Rugby Union by Alan Jones, I had no idea. hmm

We picked up a copy of Batavia when were were in Denham, written by Peter.  It took Mr D an ages to wade through it, but he was thoroughly enthralled.

Vic, why have you changed your avatar?

Which one ?  I have a few I use from time to time just for the hell of it I get bored with one avatar, no rhyme or reason.

The one shown here is the Federation Flag.  I love flags of all sorts....

Edit:  Changed avatar again, Federation Flag shown on the above link.....

+1 on those columns

As for the red bandana, yeah I have read his explanation and it is his choice, but it still somehow reminds of Rosie the Riveter. biggrin

The hanky/bandana code to show him from a distance,

 Cripes, have to make sure I don't have one on my head!   He had a red one on his head when he gave his talk to us, I thought it was because he was bald (what is the reason John?) he said he was hetrosexual and happily married with kids (I read his wife is the talk host of the Today show on TV).

I would hate to tell some of those bikies that wear them they are gay though, might not live to tell the tale! LOL!
