road conditions Noccundra?

I am planning to drive from Warri Gate in NSW to Noccundra in Qld in a couple of weeks (Aug/Sept). Does anyone have any recent info on road conditions/road surface etc. Or any general advice or tips? Thanks

Your first post ... Welcome to the forum and have a great time exploring all it has to offer .....

Not sure which way you are travelling ... have not been via Inland route, but have from the east.

Did that trip and out to Dig Tree and Inniminka back in early June ... Good sealed road all the way to Noccundra . We went from northern NSW via Glen Innes, then a couple of nights at Swanbrook rest stop, Inverell, Bogabilla overnight at truck stop  which was rather noisy but good meals, showers and toilets, Nindigully for about a week free camp, St George, Wallam Creek at Bollon for a week free camp, Eulo Pub overnight about $10 with amenities from memory, Thargomindah for 3 nights at Caravan Park to power up and wash ... Great stay and great park, then on to Noccundra where we stayed at the Waterhole for a week ... Not much of anything being caught while we were there though.  Good hamburgers, beer and wine at the pub and diesel close to $2 per ltr.  Lots and lots of flies so make sure you have fly net or lots of repellant

From Noccundra to Dig Tree was sealed and good road except about 20 Kim's unsealed and a few short sections of road work ... Be careful of the bull dust ... Also unsealed and a bit of corrugation from the turnoff to Dig Tree ... About 30 klm from memory return.  From there to border is sealed and then to Inmiminka is all unsealed and corrugated.  Just drive to conditions.  Be careful lots of unfenced areas and cattle roaming ... Not many roos or other traffic except mine workers on the road when we were ... Some narrow sections of road here and there.

Photo is one I took of a sunrise at the waterhole while we were there.

enjoy your trip

We did that drive a little while ago but in the opposite direction. From memory the road was in pretty good nick then and wasn't a difficult drive. Just drive to the conditions and you shoukd be ok. Sorry can't give you more recent info. Noccundra was a great spot. We had a great meal at the pub and camped across the road on the Wilson river. There are showers and toilets in the hall next to the pub. Enjoy it is still one of those places we often talk about.

Thanks for the info. We are heading for the Dig Tree too, but via Tibboburra and Warri Gate to Noccundra. You are rigbt about not much therewe were there a few years ago via the Eulo routebut we really liked the waterhole. This trip is following the Burke and Wills route to Innaminka. Sounds like the road is ok, I was hoping it wasnt too corregated. Absolutely beautiful sunset!
