We have a dilemma, when we arrive at a service centre with a long van (10m bumper to ball) in tow.
There is invariably a sign that points cars one way, and trucks and buses the other way. When we follow the car route we rarely find space to park, and often find ourselves in the exit road without being able to stop.
On the other hand when we follow the truck route we find space to park, other cars with vans, BUT we always feel as if we should not be there.
I wish they gave us a bit more information at the entry.
I would love to hear what other people that tow long vans do?

Even with my "Big" rig I head out back and try to keep out of the way as best I can. I see big tugs and vans doing the same. Safer I reckon.

Found something I didn't know today. Pulled up at a fast fill diesel pump only to find out that the hole is not big enough, bugga. Never mind, moved to another diesel pump instead. Don't really need fast fill anyway.

Know what you mean Plendo. We go to the truck/bus area, and park at one side there.... too scared of road-trains to sit out in the middle!!!
Have seen caravans parked at designated truck roadside stops, knowing how the truckies need so much space and need their breaks, we keep out of those spaces.

My wife found out about fast fill pumps the same way but ended up spilling diesel down the side of the car and wearing it. Not a good lesson.
Having now travelled in both a MH and with a Caravan I can honestly say I've never seen filling up as a concern ..
I take the opportunity to top up when I see an appropriate location in my travels .. Whether in driveways or out the back I just get in line if it's necessary.
No-one has ever asked me to move or go elsewhere ..
Quite often "out the back" can be cheaper. I know the Wallan service centre on the Hume is. Always fill up where the truckies fill as long as I don't hold them up but use fast fill pumps in preference anywhere.

Sorry to digress a little Plendo, as you know I don't do that, it's wombat
Now, BB, I agree, not a nice way at all. I get funny looks when filling up with Diesel cos I use disposable gloves. Saves on that smelly diesel being with you all day. Some hoses are real messy.
Back to Plendo.

I am with you Mongrel, I can not imagine putting gloves on to pump fuel.
It is actually funny, because this thread has not gone where I expected at all, it was not about which pump, but about where do people park if they want to go in for a coffee.
Still chuckling, thinking of Doug paying for his coffee with his gloves on.
David, the gloves go in the bin after I finish fuelling up. The rubber gloves will also come in handy for when I finish my PHD and get my GN Doctorate and become Dr Dougwe.
