Helping out at Flying High Bird Sanctuary

Hello all

For the last couple of weeks I have been helping out here at the Flying High Bird Sanctuary at Apple Tree Creek 5 ks north of Childers.

The owners have advertised in the classified section for this help, but I would just like to make it known here, that this help would be greatly appreciated.

We all help out for about 4 hours a day taking it turns to have a day off here and there, going to see some sights in the area.

The owners David and Anne are very lovely people and very loving towards the birds.

It is a nice place to stay for a while if you are into helping out with wildlife, as they also have a few roos, a few emu, a cassowary, a sheep, the a variety of birds.

I plan on staying here for a couple more weeks and helping with a few odd jobs that we are doing.

So if you think you would like to do something like this believe me, give David or Anne a ring and tell them that you would like to come and help as there is some room here for a couple more vans.

Hope to see some of you soon.

Cheers for now.

Barry.

Did they ever get the bird back that was stolen about a year ago.
Beautiful yellow parrot who sat on my shoulder for my walk around the sanctuary, I have forgotten his name.
Was stolen only a couple of weeks after I had been there. Sadly too friendly.

Hey Barry! We met David and Ann briefly the other day - we are at Twinnies, in Landsborough. We have 2 cygnets here (Chris & Miguel) who were saved and held at Flying High before coming here.

The amount of work (and love) that goes into these places is amazing, and humbling.

Hello All
Sorry I haven't been on the net as have not had much coverage here with my provider so it makes it hard to get on some times.

Now Littlenose I don't know if you came or not but please people if you do come and see David or Anne as their ad states they are still looking for help here, as at one stage it got down to just 4 of us helping out and that make a lot of work for all. And as the old saying goes many hands make light work.

Yesterday we had 2 more ladies that are travelling around in a bus turn up for a week to help, and today was their first day and so far they are liking it.

Happywanderer, that bird that was stolen about 1 year ago is still gone, Anne still has flyers up hoping that someone does remember seeing it somewhere and contacts them but she knows that there is little chance of that now.

Rosie, the Twinnies were here the other week, they were the attraction for an open day about 2 weeks ago and all had fun. I hope you are having fun down there with them.

So if you think that you would like to help out and stay for a week or two please give David and Anne a ring, all their details are in the Help Wanted section.

Hope to see some more of you soon.

Cheers for now.

Barry.
