Hi didi;

Call in and see your local RTA office and ask for there recomindation of a approved engineer that 1/ could possable do the work for you and 2/ sign off on the work as changing from a 2 seater to a 4 seater would require meeting RDA reqirments ( seat belt mouting points etc ).

Yes Bas +Eve the rta also aren't happy till they've got all your cash.

Thanks valiant. I think the conversion guy has a VASS engineer on board for electrics etc. But I just wondered if ayone had already done this? And what was the outcome? cheers Di

I fitted 2 to the side lounge on mine but haven't had them passed as I only fitted them for emergency's, ie picking up people who have broken down or had an accident, I used the center belts from the back seats of some Subaru's I pulled apart a few years ago, they weren't long enough so I cut the webbing off another belt and had them extended professionally by the guy who made my window shade.

I used 50mm X 50mm X 5mm thick steel as a base plate behind where I drilled them in and also used proper high tensile seat belt bolts.

So if they are not to be used normally this may be an option.

Hi to be legal the seat belt mounting plates need to be<3mm generally Aust wide and Vic specify 1.5-3mm. This is the most critical as in an accident a heavy plate tears the floor pan and a thinner on distorts with it and is a lot stronger.

Thanks for that though I think if I had a decent accident they would have a 250L fridge followed by about 200kg of tools squashing them into the front seat :(

What ever direction you take, then eventually it will have to be Engineer Inspected and Certified by all states of Australia to be legal.

But, your thoughts are worth a reward.
