What a stupid mob of traitors do we have in power basically sabotaging our one proud country.
Copied from ABC news:
Independent Senator Nick Xenophon has taken aim at the Federal Government for bypassing local firms to award contracts to overseas companies.
He says that under "value for money" criteria, the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) has gone with a foreign company rather than Adelaide company Rossi to make 100,000 pairs of boots for the Australian military.
Rossi are a bloody good workboot too. Speaking from experience too...after owning a few pairs of them over the years (n Don't ask how many either ...coz I got no flamin idea !!)
Cheers Keith

British Aerospace service the RAAF aircraft
Qantas aircraft are serviced off shore
The list goes on.................. not just this Government but both just care about the budget not the country
Saw an article on TV the other night about K-Mart. Virtually all of their clothing and some other stock is source in China.
Neil, not all Qantas maintenance is done overseas, most is done here. What is done overseas is the heavy maintenance because Qantas don't have the engineering facilities to do it here. They do have a heavy maintenance facility at Avalon to service the 747 but as that aircraft s being phased out and the cost to convert the facility for other aircraft such as A380 is not economically viable. You can't build a multi million dollar facility to service a handful of aircraft, so that facility will or has closed..

I have to agree with you all!!!!! The only only thing left for us is unemployment and thanks to our so called governments, this looks like the ' new growth industry'.

Gday...
There are many companies servicing RAAF aircraft apart from British Aerospace. Part of the contract when aircraft are purchased, or leased, by RAAF include the requirement for the company to establish an "Australian footprint", employ Australian technicians and embed RAAF personnel in their workforce for training and skill transference.
In most cases, whilst the companies are "overseas" companies they employ a considerable Australian skilled workforce and service the aircraft within Australia.
The Pilatus PC9 Training Aircraft (about 64 aircraft) are serviced by Airflite in Australia - an Australian company again employing a considerable skilled Australian workforce.
